Invisible landmarks:
A Found (Lost) Dream
Barev, everyone!
Before bedtime we decided to recall another important aspect of Armenian culture - Armenfilm. You probably immediately thought of Robert Sahakyants. Of course, his masterpieces have been familiar to us since childhood, and we will definitely write something interesting about the lesser-known cartoons we discovered only recently. But today the subject is the word yeraz, which means "dream" in Armenian. There is even a Yeraz Park in the Arabkir district, a familiar local name.
We walk around the city a lot, and at some point we started noticing the image of an old man and a little girl on signs of children's centers and in toy stores.
Once we stepped into a designer shoe shop in the center, and there they were again, printed on the shoes. Of course, we asked the salesperson, "What story and characters are these?" He told us it was a very popular Armenian cartoon called Found Dream (ԳՏՆՎԱԾ ԵՐԱԶ). Naturally, we immediately found it on YouTube (with Leonov’s incomparable voice). It turned out to be an eight-minute cartoon from 1977. And it was the first time we had ever seen these characters. The plot is very surreal, even psychedelic in places, but we will not spoil it. It is interesting that such a little-known short film became a brand.
Good night.
