Friends flew in on Wednesday and, as promised, we’ll be sharing our cultural outings.
Yesterday we visited the Yerevan Opera Theatre and saw Giacomo Puccini’s La Boheme. It is a classic Italian lyric opera with dramatic notes about the lives of the Parisian bohemia, the creative and not very wealthy young people of 1830s Paris.
The subtitles were in Armenian. We simply opened the libretto online and followed the plot.
We went with a big spontaneous group. And... we liked it. At first the hall being only about 50% full made us uneasy, but the concern was unfounded: 2 hours and 20 minutes, with an intermission, flew by.
We definitely recommend it. Now we are eyeing Aram Khachaturian’s ballet Gayane - we have heard a lot of positive reviews about it.
