Yerevan. Bookstore. Exhibition.

Hi everyone!

As usual, while walking through the city center after work and looking for something interesting, we spontaneously dropped into our favorite bookstore. It is a great place: on the first floor there are lots of nice things - postcards, notebooks, mugs, cute stationery, and a solid children’s literature section, including books in English.

On the second floor there is manga, classics, sci-fi, and more English books. The second floor is divided into two halls; you can sit on cozy window sills with pillows and flip through pages. The second-floor foyer often hosts photo and art exhibitions. Yesterday we walked in right during setup: they were hanging paintings. We looked around and got hooked by the graphic works, especially the combinations of color and geometry.

The author herself, Inna (@INNNA_DESIGNER), came up to us and we chatted a bit - for example, about the Trndez holiday (Armenian: Տրնդեզ), which she depicted in one of her paintings. It really catches the eye. There is an analogy with the Slavic Ivan Kupala: a pagan purification tradition where young people jump over fire on the night of February 14. She told us that in Armenia people even make bonfires in apartment courtyards or entrances on that day - interesting, we have not seen that ourselves yet.

Like many pagan traditions, this one gradually merged into Christianity: here it is associated with St. Sargis, who is considered the patron of lovers. By the way, today is St. Sargis Day.

So, this Sunday (February 1, 2026) an exhibition by this artist opens in the bookstore. We won’t spoil too much. Definitely recommended - both the exhibition and the bookstore. The exhibition will run for two weeks.
