Our Choice of Yerevan Cafeterias and Food Courts

Hi everyone!

In our poll, cafeterias and food courts won.

Let’s jump back to 2023. We came to scout schools, stayed in Yerevan, and at first had no idea how much things cost. We started “living fancy” - breakfast and lunch in cafes every day, and sometimes dinner too, in places like Sorriso. By the end of the first week we realized the travel budget was breaking mainly because of cafe and restaurant spending, and we still had another week ahead.

Our first find was Fourchette Buffet (“Furshet Buffet”): an affordable cafeteria in the center with several locations (for example, 12 Amiryan St. and 31 Moskovyan St.).
There is a decent selection: salads, hot dishes, sweets - budget-friendly and generally good. Yes, there is mayonnaise and quite a lot of oil, so it is definitely not diet food if that matters to you. But rice and buckwheat are usually available. Lunch for three costs around 5000-6000 drams (about 1200 RUB).

When we settled in the Arabkir area, on Vratsakan Street, we discovered SAS Food Court on Komitas (52 Komitas Ave.).
The selection there is huge: grill, meat and fish, salads, rolls, pastries, cakes. Everything is split into zones - convenient and inconvenient at the same time, because you juggle receipts and pick up orders in different places. But the fresh bread there is absolutely amazing - and free. Delivery is available too, which helps a lot. It is slightly more expensive than Furshet Buffet, but clearly better in quality and variety. Price range: 6000-7000 drams for three (about 1500 RUB).

Another budget option right in the center is Grab&Go cafeteria (36/1 Pavstos Buzand St.): buffet / pay-by-weight format, good for a quick bite.
We found it exactly when the budget was “bursting at the seams.” Price: 4000-5000 drams for three (about 1100 RUB).

Our current favorite is Eatoria cafeteria at 28 Moskovyan St. (literally opposite the Yandex office at 35 Moskovyan).
Wide dish selection, two soups every day (for example, pumpkin cream soup and chicken soup), lighter options, and very tasty fish. Quality is on par with SAS Food Court, sometimes even better. Price is roughly similar, maybe slightly higher: 7000-8000 drams (about 1700 RUB).

Sharing useful locations. In SAS photos you can see a local landmark: a very square and very cute dog named Willy. He has a kennel near the food court and often just sleeps in the neighboring SAS store.
