Tsaghkadzor. Animal world.
Near the hotel complex we found a very charming abandoned site. Apparently it was a former construction area, also used as a sand quarry.
From the vegetation, mostly small pines, I estimated that the quarry had been abandoned for around seven years. A meltwater stream comes down from the mountain, and a small lake formed in the pit. Judging by the number of tadpoles, in about three weeks the place should be deafening with frog croaks.
Every morning after breakfast we went down to this small lake to check on frogs and tadpoles and hop on hummocks along the pond shore.
On the penultimate day, Alina noticed an interesting footprint in sand that had not been there the day before. From the photo, ChatGPT identified it as a bear track. Comparison with a palm suggested a bear height of well over two meters. We got alarmed and showed the photo to hotel administration. Alina expected everyone to be impressed and more careful, but no: "Yeah. Well, a bear."
So the most impressed people were us. We did not go back to the pond, and for the rest of the trip we preferred driving through that road section by car.
