Three cups of coffee
We could not pass by this morning still life. At first glance: why photograph cups in a sink? In reality, those three miniature cups contain an unbearably concentrated amount of local color.
The most obvious layer is national ornamentation. This fine aesthetic pattern is everywhere: on carpets, in stone around windows and doors, in stone crosses (khachkars). Next: why tiny cups? For coffee. Supermarkets here have huge coffee sections with many varieties. I am not a coffee enthusiast, so I cannot judge quality. But as Kate Fox said about British humor - it is famous because of quantity. Same with Armenian coffee. Everyone drinks it, always.
Three cups. In the morning. It means three people had a conversation. We do not know who or why, and that is not important. Absolutely any group can gather for coffee here. Alina really likes small groups of men, sometimes middle-aged, sometimes older, exchanging snacks and drinking coffee outside. I also saw students at the university coffee spot both morning and evening. So coffee here conquers all ages.
Good morning, Armenian flavor, and local philosophy for your feed!
